We didn’t start this work, we’re simply continuing it. This community has grown through the dedication, vision, and quiet sacrifice of many who came before us. ADVISORY BOARD

The KE-NCR Advisory Board provides the organization with experience, perspective and continuity as it grows and evolves in service of the Kenyan community in Canada’s National Capital Region.

Drawing on the knowledge, commitment and diverse expertise of its members, the Board offers strategic guidance and independent counsel to the elected KE-NCR Committee. It helps identify opportunities and challenges, supports long-term planning and sustainability, and contributes to the continued growth of the organization.

The Advisory Board also helps preserve KE-NCR’s institutional knowledge and history, promoting continuity between leadership terms while respecting the mandate, authority and independence of each elected Committee.

The Board’s role is advisory, not operational. Responsibility for KE-NCR’s day-to-day management and activities remains with the elected Committee. Through regular engagement, the Advisory Board may provide input on strategic priorities, governance, community engagement, partnerships and other matters affecting KE-NCR’s long-term interests.

By creating space for thoughtful reflection and constructive counsel beyond daily operations, the Advisory Board complements the elected Committee and helps support a strong, sustainable and forward-looking KE-NCR.

About Us

This is your all-heart, volunteer crew: ten proud Kenyans who (somehow!) agreed to take on the task of keeping our community connected, celebrated, and informed. We were elected in August 2026, and our term runs until 2028.

Don’t let the titles fool you, we’re truly all hands on deck. We do whatever needs to be done, often with a cup of chai in hand and a to-do list that keeps growing. Behind every event you attend are hours (and hours) of back-and-forth messages, looooong planning calls over virtual chai, and last-minute problem-solving. And yes, sometimes we even forget to eat at the events.

We handle a bit of everything: planning events, answering late-night WhatsApp messages, shopping for the BBQ, booking venues, and exploring new ways to keep this community vibrant and engaged. You name it, we’ve probably had a meeting about it. That said, we don’t know it all, so we always welcome new ideas and honest feedback.

We may be volunteers, but we take this work seriously because we care deeply about this community. And we’re always looking for others who want to jump in and help make things happen.
